Introduction to Services
Each access guide is written by a team of community members, parents, and advocates.
Regional Centers
Due to the Lanterman Act, California has a system of regional centers to support local families with disabled loved ones. It guarantees that anyone with a developmental disability has the right to services and supports that meet their needs. Any service and support that helps you or a loved one live a more full, productive life counts as a service or support. This right belongs to you across ALL ages, degrees of disability, and stages in life. There are 21 regional centers across California. To break down this complex system, we have created a service chart to help you understand the services available to you. These include, but are not limited to, diagnosis and assessment of disability, purchase of necessary services, counseling, early intervention, and advocacy. From [insert service] to [insert service], access to services can greatly improve a family’s quality of life.
